Background

James began his career navigating through diverse companies across various market sectors, acquiring a wealth of experience along the way. His early years were marked by pivotal roles at Nortel Networks, Canon's scanner and printer division, and Esselte, where he served as the European IT Manager. With each role, he expanded his skill set and climbed the corporate ladder, always seeking the next challenge. This formative period provided James with an in-depth understanding of business operations and technology landscapes, setting the groundwork for his future specialisation in security.

In the subsequent phase of his career, James sharpened his focus on cyber and information security. He served in key roles at major security vendors including Network Associates, McAfee, Intel Security, and Guidance Software. Here, James concentrated on managing major accounts, focusing on the largest and most significant clients for each vendor. He dealt with a range of technologies including vulnerability analysis, network intrusion prevention, endpoint protection, and network analysis tools. His roles frequently spanned across the EMEA region, and at times, he held full responsibility for certain product lines within these territories. This period of concentrated experience cemented James's reputation as a seasoned expert in security technologies.

As an independent consultant, James has taken on ambitious projects for some of the world's largest household names. His consultancy work includes complex transformations, cloud migration projects for both collaboration and workloads, and managing large divestments, notably one exceeding £900 million. His expertise also covers large insourcing initiatives and SAP re-platforming projects. Each of these experiences has added to his ability to execute intricate, high-stakes projects successfully, making him a reliable authority in the field.
